Q&A
Before starting psychotherapy, people often have a range of questions as they seek to understand what to expect and how to prepare.

Is CBT therapy right for me?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can be a great choice if you’re looking for a structured, practical approach to tackle specific challenges, such as anxiety, stress, depression, or negative thought patterns. CBT focuses on how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact, aiming to help you break cycles that may be holding you back. If you’re open to learning new strategies to manage thoughts and emotions, CBT may be a good fit. Many people find that it helps them feel empowered and equipped to make meaningful changes.

How do I choose the right therapist?

Choosing the right therapist is all about finding someone who feels supportive, respectful, and understanding. A good therapist listens without judgment and makes you feel safe. Consider what’s important to you: Do you prefer a therapist with certain expertise? A specific approach? Many people feel that when they find the right fit, they look forward to therapy as a safe space to explore and grow. You can book a free initial 15min call with me if you'd like to get to know me first.

What should I expect in a therapy session?

A typical therapy session is a mix of talking, reflecting, and sometimes learning new ways to approach issues. You’ll likely start by discussing what’s been on your mind, and your therapist will guide you with questions or insights. Therapy can be deeply personal and sometimes emotional, but it’s meant to feel safe and supportive. In CBT or other structured therapies, you might also have practical exercises to work on between sessions. Expect a space that’s all about you—your thoughts, feelings, and goals.

How long does therapy typically last?

The length of therapy varies widely based on personal goals and the type of challenges you're facing. Some people find relief in a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support over several months or even longer. CBT often lasts 10–20 sessions, but we will work together to create a timeline that feels right. Remember, therapy is a journey, and the pace can be adjusted based on your needs.

How much does therapy cost, and is it covered by insurance?

Therapy costs can vary depending on location, please check 'Psychotherapy' tab for prices. Many insurance plans offer partial or full coverage for therapy, I am currently signed up with AXA and Aviva.

What if I don't feel comfortable with my therapist?

It’s completely normal if you don’t feel an instant connection with your therapist—comfort can take time. But if you consistently feel uneasy or misunderstood, it might be worth exploring a different match. Therapy should feel safe, respectful, and collaborative. You have the right to find a therapist who genuinely feels right for you, so don’t be afraid to seek someone new if needed. Your mental well-being is the priority.

How private and confidential is therapy?

Therapists are bound by strong confidentiality laws, meaning what you share stays private. There are only rare exceptions for safety reasons, which your therapist will explain at the beginning. Otherwise, you can trust that your conversations are safe and will not be shared. Therapy is designed to be a safe place to be fully open and honest.

What are the expected outcomes of therapy?

The goal of therapy is to help you feel better, gain self-understanding, and develop tools to manage life’s challenges. Over time, you may notice improved mood, reduced stress, healthier relationships, or a greater sense of purpose. Therapy isn’t about a quick fix, but many people find it’s a powerful journey that leaves them feeling more in control, self-aware, and resilient.
